The Lido Civic Club cordially invites you to join us in celebrating the outstanding civic achievements of Mr. John DePaola, as we honor him with the Lido Civic Club Man of the Year award, and the Honorable Ronald D. Vitiello Acting Deputy Commissioner U.S. Customs and Border Protection, with the Public Service Award. The event will take place at the Bethesda Country Club in Bethesda, MD on November 18, 2017.
The Lido Civic Club, founded in 1929, is an Italian American organization dedicated to serving the Washington Metropolitan community through its civic and charitable activities. Since 2004, the Lido Civic Club has provided more than $567,000 in college scholarships to deserving students. The Club's charitable efforts include programs to support local area wounded warriors, the homeless, the elderly, orphans, and natural disaster victims. The Lido Civic Club has also worked to promote the teaching of the Italian language.
Among the former recipients of the Lido Civic Club annual awards are: Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito, Ambassador Constance Morella, Congressman Peter Rodino, Dr. Joseph Gallo, Mario Andretti, Jack Valenti, and General Peter Pace, to name a few. Speakers at past events over the years have included Fiorello LaGuardia, Rudy Giuliani, and Justice Antonin Scalia.
We hope you can join us as we recognize the noble achievements of our awardees, which always promises to be a great evening. Proceeds from the event will support the Lido Civic Club's scholarship fund and its charity efforts.

Man of the Year: John DePaola
John DePaola has been the President & CEO of Long Fence and Home since 1994. Mr. DePaola and his team are committed to ensuring that all functions are working towards Long Fence's ultimate goal of servicing area homeowners with the highest quality and best value in replacement windows and doors, exterior siding, and quality kitchen remodeling. Mr. DePaola holds a B.S. in Engineering Science from Loyola College in Maryland and an MBA from the University of Baltimore.
John and his wife Jill founded the Bo DePaola Family Foundation in memory of their son Bo DePaola, and both work tirelessly to break the stigma of mental illness with education and guidance, and work in partnership with Anne Arundel Medical Center, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, Anne Arundel County, and other valued community partners.
Public Service Award: Ronald Vitiello
As of February 1, 2017, Ron has assumed the position of Chief of the U.S. Border Patrol. As its COO previously, he was responsible for the daily operations of the U.S. Border Patrol and reported to the Commissioner of CBP, assisting in planning and directing nationwide enforcement and administrative operations. Ron has over 37 years of service with CBP.
