The Lido Civic Club cordially invites you to join us in celebrating the outstanding civic achievements of Mr. Greg Baroni as we honor him with the Lido Civic Club Man of the Year Award. We are also pleased to announce that Archbishop Broglio, will be the recipient of the 2019 Lido Civic Club Public Service Award. The event will take place at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner located in McLean, Virginia on November 2, 2019.
LIDO CIVIC CLUB
The Lido Civic Club, founded in 1929, is an Italian American organization dedicated to serving the Washington Metropolitan community through its civic and charitable activities. Since 2004, the Lido Civic Club has provided more than $715,000 in college scholarships to deserving students, as well as working with organizations such as the Casa Italiana Language Program, the Aleethia Foundation in its Wounded Warriors rehabilitation program, and the Villa Rosa Nursing Home.
We hope you will be able to join us for a memorable evening as we recognize the achievements of our very special honorees. Proceeds from the event will help support Lido Civic Club Charities, Inc., a 501 (c)(3). Man of the Year: Greg Baroni
Greg Baroni is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, as well as Co-founder of Attain, LLC. Before founding Attain, Mr. Baroni held various leadership roles at Unisys Corporation, including Corporate Senior Vice President of the company and President of its Federal Systems and Global Public Sector unit. Previously, Mr. Baroni spent nearly 20 years at KPMG Consulting.
Mr. Baroni leads by example at both the American Red Cross in the National Capital Region and The Women’s Center in the Washington, DC area. He has received numerous industry leadership awards such as the Fed 100, Fast Company's Fast 50, Consulting Magazine's Top 25, the Greater Washington Government Contracting Awards’ Executive of the Year, and the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year in the Government Services, Small category for Greater Washington.
Mr. Baroni is an active leader in the professional association community and continues to actively serve the missions of our local charitable and industry organizations. He is a member of the Chairman’s Advisory Council for the American Red Cross-National Capital Region and Board Chair of The Women's Center (TWC), and a Founding Board Member of Homeland Security & Defense Business Council (HSDBC). The Lido Civic Club is delighted to honor this outstanding American of Italian descent, who has been a dynamic business leader and served his community via local charitable and industry organizations.
Public Service Award: Archbishop Timpothy Broglio
The Lido Civic Club is also pleased to be honoring Archbishop Broglio with the 2019 Lido Civic Club Public Service Award. Archbishop Broglio leads the Archdiocese for the Military Services USA, which serves approximately 1.8 million Catholics serving in the United States Armed Forces.
Archbishop Broglio was born in Ohio and attended Boston College where he obtained a A.B. in classics. He entered the Pontifical Gregorian University after graduating from college and earned a S.T.B. He was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Cleveland by Cardinal Sergio Pignedoli on May 19, 1977. Returning to Rome in 1979, he studied at the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy and graduated in 1983; He also earned his J.C.D. from the Gregorian, and joined the Vatican’s diplomatic corps. On February 27, 2001, Archbishop Broglio was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to the Dominican Republic, as well as Apostolic Delegate to Puerto Rico, and Titular Archbishop of Amiternum. He received his episcopal consecration on March 19 from Pope John Paul II, with Cardinals Angelo Sodano and Giovanni Battista Re serving as co-consecrators.
Archbishop Broglio is a member of the Board of Trustees of Catholic Distance University. Pope Benedict XVI named Broglio head of the Archdiocese for the Military Services on November 19, 2007. He was installed on January 25, 2008, at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Aside from his native English, he is also fluent in Italian, Spanish, and French.
